Is it hard to ice a cake with stars? - top hat cake

I bought this head of Winnie the Pooh shaped cake pan for my son and I make the cake for his birthday. Now I know it's the kind of cake decorating with star tip. Is it difficult? How do you know where to start and stop is that if the cap holds over his head?
